Jef Verheyen
De Belgische ZERO-kunstenaar Jef Verheyen (1932-1984) werd bekend als de schilder van lichtstromen en kleurspectra. Hij experimenteerde niet alleen met licht, maar ook met beweging en het onzichtbare als middel om natuurlijke mechanismen op te roepen en universele onderlinge relaties tussen de mens en de omringende wereld bloot te leggen. Hij gebruikte geometrische principes – zijn passie voor meetkunde is ontstaan uit zijn interesse in wiskunde en (Griekse) filosofie – als basis voor harmonie. Verheyen gaf traditionele media en materialen zoals canvas, verf en penselen nooit op om op zoek te gaan naar de essentie van onze natuur.

The Flemish Centre for Art Archives CKV started cooperating with the Jef Verheyen Archive in 2019, to work towards an inventory of the work and archive of Jef Verheyen, that can be for access to the public. For this project CKV appointed researcher Annelien De Troij to be in charge of the archival care and the set-up of a major ongoing database. To this end, this Ensembles platform has become accessible for research purposes, to follow-up on the development of the overview of the oeuvre and the mapping of key archival materials.
The archive is digitized but copyrighted. As it operates only as a reference, researchers and stakeholders can be in touch with the archive to request more specific information on every item listed in this database.
